AVAILING FINANCIAL INCENTIVES

Besides foreign exchange facilities and incentives under the Import Export Policy, 1997-2002 a number of financial and fiscal incentives are also available to the exporters.

Various financial incentives available to the exporters are as under:

1.                  MARKETING DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE (MDA)

Assistance under Marketing Development Fund is provided by the Government for stimulating and diversifying the export trade.  It is available in respect of the following purposes:

(i)                  Market research, commodity research, area survey and research;
(ii)                Export publicity and dissemination of information;
(iii)               Participation in trade fairs and exhibitions;
(iv)              Trade delegation and study teams;
(v)                Establishment of offices and branches in countries abroad; and
(vi)              Grants in aid to Export Promotion Councils and other approved organisations.

The Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) disburses MDA grants for the following four activities on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce.

(i)                  One person sale-cum – study tour(s) abroad;
(ii)                Participation in fairs/exhibitions abroad;
(iii)               Bringing out publications for use abroad;
(iv)              Advertising in foreign media.

Export Promotion Councils/Commodity Boards/APEDA/MOEDA also grant MDA assistance for the above type of activities in conjunction with FIEO.

            MDA for other activities like opening of foreign offices, setting up of warehouses and after sales services, installations abroad, research and development work on products etc. is disbursed directly by the Ministry of Commerce, Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi- 110001.
